This time, we’ll introduce you to Ban’ya-no-Yu, a natural hot spring in Ishikari.
Ban’ya-no-Yu is a relaxing facility located in a scenic spot overlooking the majestic Sea of Japan from Ishikari Bay. The nearly 1,000-year-old “fossil seawater,” pumped up from hundreds of meters underground, warms the body from the inside out and prevents chills.

Admission is 650 yen for adults, 350 yen for children aged 12 and above, and free for elementary school students and younger (up to age 3). From JR Sapporo Station, take the bus bound for “Ishikari” from Chuo Bus Sapporo Terminal or Kita 5-jo Nishi 1-chome (the bus stop closest to JR Sapporo Station) for approximately 60 minutes. It’s about a 5-minute walk from the “Ishikari Onsen-mae” bus stop. [Note 1]

Ban’ya-no-Yu also offers a daily lunch buffet, where you can enjoy a selection of approximately 30 dishes, including seafood bowls, to your heart’s content. The lunch buffet costs ¥1,500 per adult and ¥1,000 per child, and includes 70 minutes of all-you-can-eat. [Note 2]

You might even be able to see capybaras at Ban’ya-no-Yu. [Note 3] Watching these adorable capybaras is sure to soothe not only your body but your soul.
